My name if Jennifer Kambar. In 2008 I met an amazing woman through a very difficult time in my life. Because of her, her story, her help to me in my life, and everything she has shown me through the years… in the meaning of Life, Love, and Sacrifice… I have began this journey of starting my own company.
When I met this woman, she was going through something no one should ever have to go through.
Cancer. But her Spirit and Heart were incredible. As a little girl, her and her sister dreamt of the day they would have kids that would grow up together. Little did they know, that dream would soon be shattered.
After going through Chemo, and Rounds of Invitro Fertilization, her luck was down. So what other path did she choose? Adoption.
After working with an Adoption Attorney, putting her name on the Newborn List, and countless hours of endless waiting… she received the call. A baby boy was to be born, and she was chosen to be his Mom.
Words could not express the overwhelming emotions she was going through, and at the moment of one phone call, her life would be changed forever.
So much love now in this family of two, I have never met anyone more deserving and full of love.
Meeting this woman was an inspiration to me in wanting to one day have my own family.
Then it happened… Because of the relationship I have with this woman, and sharing in her emotions of now having a beautiful baby, I began to wonder if someday I would be able to have a child. Knowing everything she went through, and realizing that this is something that happens to women everyday, I began to fear that this would happen to me.
And after going through unexpected emotions, nightmares, and hours of thinking… I realized this…
If I was ever put in her situation, I would never be able to afford Adoption.
However in September of 2011, my husband and I were blessed with a beautiful baby Girl, and to this day are forever grateful.
That is when I decided to start my own company.
I started looking into Adoption a little bit more to gain an understanding of what people have to go through in order to adopt. The process, the COSTS, and all of the different companies out there that deal specifically with this.
After doing a ton of research, I learned you can also adopt through your State Department, or Foster Care System. However, then you are getting into Older Children and Children with Special Needs, which ultimately cost higher in care. The saying “Beggars can’t be choosers” came to mind, but there is so much more into each individual situation, who are we to judge?
Then I started looking at the average income for a Middle Class Single Parent, and Couples. I took into account credit and other financial situations. While some couples could afford a child, they might not be able to front the costs of adoption. As I got further into my research, I learned of companies that offer Grants up to $4,000, and some companies that offer website building to couples looking to raise their own money. And while both of these options can help in the process, the cost of adopting can be pricey and overwhelming.
Throughout my research, I stumbled upon story after story of the kind of situations people have gone through…
Some who went through the entire adoption process, only to find out in the end that the parent/parents decided to keep the child, losing all of their money and not having enough to go through the process all over again. People with Fertility problems who couldn’t afford adoption, or costly IVF treatments. And couples with credit problems, who couldn’t get a loan, or get financed through an Adoption Company.
That’s when I thought to myself, If only there was a way I could help…
I could not imagine life without my daughter. The Joy, Love, and Happiness she has brought to our lives is unlike any other.
I will be putting together criteria for applicants, as there is much more to adopting than the financial aspects. And there will be requirements, as well as a “For those who Qualify” portion, because while I would like to help EVERYONE, in the beginning it just wouldn’t be possible. I am looking to Freelance, and outsource mostly in Michigan, however once we are up and running, I will be looking into Arizona as well.
Bottom Line? There isn’t a company out there that I have found able to Fully Fund adoption costs for a Single Parent, or Couples looking to adopt on their own. This is my ultimate goal.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Kambar
